How to Draw a Cartoon Hippopotamus - Step-by-Step Tutorial
Step 1: Happy Hippo time! Let's start with the head. Draw a curved line in the left direction and then curve it back upward a bit to create the chin and mouth.
Step 2: underneath the shape you just drew, repeat this same shape but draw it upside down this time, leaving a small space in the center for the mouth.
Step 3: Up towards the top of the original curved line, add a large dot for the eye that is closest to you. Add another small mound a little off to the left for the second eye.
Step 4: Now, off to the right of the first eye you drew, add a small curved line for the ear.
Step 5: Time for the nostrils! They should be located in in the center of where the original line curved upward.
Step 6: Now it is time for the body. From your starting point, draw a horizontal line and towards the end, have it curve downward. Also, add a small vertical line right underneath the chin of your hippo.
Step 7: Let's draw the legs. From the small line you just drew, you will be drawing three vertical lines. They should be parallel and spaced eventually apart. Move your writing utensil to the end of the hippo and repeat this process but keep the vertical lines shorter this time. Draw in a horizontal line to connect the two groups of parallel lines. At the base of the lines, add in curved semi-circles for the toes.
Step 8: Last step! At the very end of the hippo off to the right, add a very small tail.
