How to Draw a Realistic Cobra - Step-by-Step Tutorial
Step 1: First, draw a small, flattened oval for the head and a larger elliptical oval intersecting it about the middle for the neck.
Step 2: Next you'll draw two smaller circles for the guides to the body below the two you just made, making them offset slightly from both one another and the other guides.
Step 3: Then draw the face in the smaller flat oval, making sure to include the eyes, mouth and scales around the face area and an upside down “U” shape for the belly scales and erase the guides when you are done smoothing out the lines for the hood.
Step 4: Next you'll extend the body to curve around the guides and connect the upside down “U” to the sides and then draw in the pattern for the hood, making the horizontal lines inside the “U” and tiny right side up “U” shapes for the scales on the outside and erasing the guide when you're finished smoothing the lines.
Step 5: Then continue drawing the horizontal patterns for the belly and erase the first guide as you go.
Step 6: Next erase the second guide for the body and draw in the remaining body outline, making it curve several times back and forth away from the head and taper to a point.
Step 7: Then begin drawing the pattern for the scales on the rest of the body, making the belly horizontal lines and tiny circles on the back about halfway up the body after the first curve where the body meets the ground.
Step 8: Finally, continue drawing the pattern down the body to the tail.
Step 9: You finished your Cobra! Congrats!
