How to Draw a Cartoon Puffin - Step-by-Step Tutorial
Step 1: Let's draw a puffin! Begin with the beak of the puffin by creating two semi-circles that meet in the center at a horizontal line that is sharp on the right end. Add another irregular shaped circle on the inside of the beak to give it some texture.
Step 2: Next, draw a curved line off the back of the beak, creating a semi-circle shape that continues in the downward direction. At the base of the beak, repeat the previous step to create the chest of the puffin. Within the head of the puffin, add two curved lines that converge at the back of the head. Lastly, add one more horizontal line at the middle of the chest, reaching to the center of the puffin.
Step 3: Next, within the two curved lines on the head of the puffin, add a large black dot for the eye.
Step 4: Time for the wing and feathers! Add many diagonal, scalloped lines from the center of the body down towards the back of the puffin. Make them all shapes and sizes.
Step 5: At the base of the wing and feathers, add another few parallel lines in the vertical position to create the tail. Connect the bottoms of these lines with a single horizontal line that also connects to the base of the body.
Step 6: Here, add in two legs and feet by drawing three parallel vertical lines very close together. These lines should bend into the horizontal direction and create a point at the end. Try to create a webbed look for the toes.
