How to Draw a Cartoon Pheasant - Step-by-Step Tutorial

Step 1: Start by drawing the beak, making it small with an “S” shaped bottom part and a short line with a curve near the narrowed tip on the top and adding in a line horizontally in between the two lines. Leave a small space along the left side of the beak.

Step 2: Draw the face and eye next. Draw in a hook with a tiny circle along the front edge from the top of the beak extending diagonally to the left. Then draw a “W” shape under the beak, extending the left side up diagonally to meet the top of the face. Draw in a circle with a small filled in circle inside just to the left of the beak for the eye. Make sure to draw a small curved line connecting the top part of the beak and the line in the middle of the beak.

Step 3: Next, you'll draw the head and neck. Draw in a long curved line from just to the left of the eye with a small jut just below and to the left of the face. Draw a vertical curved line from under the face making a wavy curve toward the back of the neck after a short distance. Draw a wavy horizontal line just above the bottom of the neck to complete the bottom part of the neck.

Step 4: Now draw the body by drawing in a long, slightly curved diagonal line from the back of the neck to the left. Draw a very jagged line connected to the bottom part of the back where the tail feathers will be and a long curve extending down vertically from under the head and curving toward the back about halfway down, making it connect with the jagged line.

Step 5: Then you'll draw in the wing, making a long semi-circle from the outer line of the chest area to just above and to the left the center of the side. Draw in several pointed loops for the feathers on the wing connected to the left end of the curve for the top of the wing.

Step 6: Next, draw a long slightly curved line extending from the top part of the jagged area on the body and several curved lines to form the underside of the tail.

Step 7: Now you'll need to draw the feet and legs. Begin with two curved vertical lines parallel to each other under the center of the body. Draw in the toes, making them extend horizontally from both sides of the leg and taper down to curved points for the claws. Then you'll draw the two parallel lines for the other leg extending horizontally from the top of the first leg and then curving sharply downward with several thin, sharp loops for the toes and claws.
